Welcome to the website of Christian artist, photographer and writer Karen Griggs Winchester, whose life is a study in the generosity of God as expressed through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Karen first began to develop her photography skills taking pictures of her children as they grew and were added to her family. While she pursued portrait photography, she also spent her free time (or as much free time as a mother of five can find) taking photos of her pet Yorkies dressed in costumes. A friend suggested she turn these photos into greeting cards and sell them on e-Bay. With the ingenuity and enthusiasm with which she pursues much in life, she tried this idea out and found it worked- and another e-Bay entrepreneur was born!
Driven to find other means of expression, Karen prayed for insight. Answering her prayers, God opened up His gift box and soon, Karen discovered a latent talent for sculpting. This ultimately led her to develop her talents in needle felting and soon, she was creating the whimsical artwork revolving around Yorkies (as well as Maltese and Pomeranians) for which she is best known. As a breeder of Yorkies, Karen was intimately aware of the breed's devotion, curiosity and feisty nature. These qualities found expression in the endearing stories she wrote to accompany her e-Bay auctions. Her artwork has delighted customers in far away countries like Italy, Russia and Australia.
In the fall of 2014, Karen's love of photography was rekindled through a budding interest in birding. Her photos capture the grace and beauty of these winged creatures. Karen is particularly taken with the burrowing owls of Cape Coral, FL, the eagles of Nokomis, Englewood, and Cape Coral, and recently the Rhesus monkeys that live along the Silver River in Ocala Florida.
